Drawing on years of practical experience running regenerative grazing systems inside wildlife conservancies, we help our partners reimagine what their land and livestock enterprises can become. We are passionate advocates for thoughtful but immediate action: using the powerful, often misunderstood tool of animal impact to bring life back to the earth’s surface.
For millennia, livestock keepers have shaped this tool through observation and experience, understanding how grasslands truly function. When animal impact is used deliberately and well, it restores ecological processes at scale and changes how the climate interacts with the land. Instead of heavy rain flooding across bare, compacted ground, it sinks into living soil - soil that holds water, grows resilient grasslands, and sustains life even through drought. In doing so, we move from being passive bystanders to active custodians of the land, confident that we can influence our future rather than simply endure it.
In Kenya, pastoralist cultures stand on the frontline of this effort. Their deep knowledge and extraordinary animal husbandry skills make them uniquely equipped to direct animal impact against the advancing desert. But responsibility does not rest only at the margins. Those managing land within healthier, protected areas must also lead the way, demonstrating that well-managed livestock can enhance biodiversity, strengthen grasslands, and generate stronger returns. Together, these two fronts - the restoration of the extreme edges and the regeneration of the safer heartlands - form one movement: proving that when livestock and land are managed as one system, everyone thrives.
